With Flying Colours was a 4-year project funded by Arts Council England and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. The project ran from 2019-2023 in Plymouth. With Flying Colours worked with schools and delivery partners across Plymouth to co-create performances with young people. It was part of the wider national effort to bring exciting cultural opportunities to young people across England in targeted areas.
With Flying Colours generated key learning for the Plymouth Cultural Education Partnership, and regional and national peers. The project engaged with Local Cultural Education Partnerships (LCEPs) on a national scale to share methodologies, and developed models of best practice for co-creation between cultural organisations and schools. With Flying Colours ensured children and young people were at the centre of all processes of working together.
“A wonderful opportunity for children to shine and grow in a creative environment that schools don’t often provide. The expertise offered was fantastic, resulting in an outcome that schools could not reach alone. Every child was provided a platform to shine and display creative talent”
With Flying Colours teamed school year groups with delivery partners to give young people the opportunity to co-create with industry professionals.
“It was so wonderful to see the young people so empowered! You could see how co-created this was.”
